First, congratulations on your micro-credential awards!

All micro-credentials you earned through Digital Promise are owned by you. You always have access to them, and can choose when/how to share them with anyone you want, whether it be an employer, a school, or followers on social media.

These micro-credentials are your assets, and we hope this guide helps you better use them to showcase your recognized skills, and eventually achieve your academic or professional goals.

Context

When engaging with Digital Promise Micro-credentials, you are engaging with 2 different platforms:

  1. The earning platform: Digital Promise Micro-credential Platform
    • This is the user-facing front end, where you can view/submit micro-credentials, and get awarded. You can see your awards in your dashboard, download your badge, or share the awards via email, or social media of your choice.
    • Note Nov 25, 2024: The downloading function on the micro-credential platform is currently under maintenance. If you need to share your awards, you can either

      (1) follow the email badge guide in this article, or

      (2) share them via the Badging solution if your award was earned before Oct 28, 2024 (follow the guide in this section).

We will update this article when the function is back on the micro-credential platform. Thank you for your patience!

  2. The achievement platform: Badging Solution:
    • This is the back-end technology that stands behind the micro-credential platform. All micro-credentials are produced and hosted here, and with every micro-credential award you get on the micro-credential platform, an Open Badge will be issued to you, and it lives in your backpack in the badging solution.
    • Currently, we are going through a transition of our badging solution provider.
      • Historically, Digital Promise has partnered with Badgr(now Canvas Credentials), which means if you earned your micro-credentials before November 2024, your micro-credential awards also live in your Badgr Backpack. While Badgr is no longer our badging solution at the back end, don't worry - your badges remain sitting in your Badgr Backpack. Please follow this section in this guide if you want to access or share your badge from your Badgr Backpack.
      • If you earned your micro-credentials after November 2024, stay tuned - our current back end is Badge Engine, and more to come on how to manage your badges and data securely in there!

In short, there are 2 places where you can find your micro-credential awards:

1. On Digital Promise Micro-credential Platform - Share your award via email

Log in to your account, and you can find all your awarded micro-credentials in your "Dashboard"-"Awarded" tab. In here, you can see the original micro-credentials, your responses and uploaded artifacts, as well as assessor's feedback.

Click on the share button - this functionality allows you to share your award with anyone via email. If neither of the below checkboxes is selected, you will simply share your award, including the micro-credential name, details, your name, and the date the award was earned.

  • Submission Evidence Checkbox: If selected, you will share all evidence included in your micro-credential application with the recipient.
  • Assessor Feedback checkbox: If selected, you will share any assessor feedback and related submissions/resubmissions in your application with the recipient.
  • Notes: any links to micro-credential awards shared via the “Email Badge” option will automatically expire after 24 hours. This system is designed to ensure that links to evidence and/or feedback are not lost or misused by the recipient. If the recipient is unable to view the micro-credential award within the 24-hour time frame, the award can be re-shared at any time.
