Log in to Micro-credential Platform: New Process

In the fall of 2024, the Micro-credential Platform implemented the Auth0 login system to bring an extra layer of security to users’ accounts. With this multi-factor authentication - the combination of password and code - we can make sure that it’s you who is logging in and accessing your account, protecting the safety of your information.

With the new login system, you will need a device (preferably a smartphone/tablet) to install an authenticator app. Once the setup is done, with all future log-ins, you can either 1) use the authenticator app to get a 6-digit one-time code, or 2) use a long recovery code if you don’t have your authenticator app with you.

Set up

Please have your device ready with you, and download an authenticator app.

  • If you have a smartphone or a tablet (Recommended)
    • Please download an authenticator app from your app store. We recommend Google Authenticator (windows/iOS).
  • If you can only access a computer
    • KeePassXC is an app on computers that works just like Google Authenticator on smartphones. Check this guide for a step-by-step setup instruction.
  1. Navigate to https://microcredentials.digitalpromise.org/, and hit “sign in or sign up” in the top right corner.

  1. You can either use Email and Password, or choose “Continue with Google” or “Continue with Microsoft Account” if you prefer single-sign-on (SSO), and log in (or sign up if you are a first-time user)

  1. If you use a smartphone or tablet to download the authenticator app, use the app to scan the QR code, then the app will give you a 6-digit one-time code. Put the code in the following box, and hit Continue.

  • If you use your computer to download the authenticator app, or having trouble scanning (e.g. if your camera is not working), you can hit “trouble scanning?”, and it will take you to this following page. Copy and paste the code on the screen, and enter it into the authenticator app, and then the app will give you a 6-digit one-time code. Put the code in the following box and hit Continue.

  1. Then you will come to this recovery code page. Please make sure to copy it and keep it somewhere safe and accessible. If the next time when you need to log in without your authenticator app, you will need this recovery code to log in.
    • Note that once you’ve used a recovery code, the platform will give you a new one, and the old one will be invalid. So please make sure to log every recovery code each time.

  1. Congratulations! You are done with the setup, and can now jump to the login part.

If you can’t log in with your old password and need a reset

If you can’t log in with your old password and need a reset, but don’t see the reset email in your inbox, you will need to register again using the email address that you used before  - but don’t worry, the new log-in system will automatically connect you back to the old account. It’s just a necessary step.

Log in after setting up

If you have your authenticator app: the 6-digit one-time code

  1. If you have your device (e.g. smartphone, tablet, etc) with you, open the authenticator app, find the 6-digit one-time code, and put it in the box here. You can check the “Remember this device for 30 days” for an easier log-in.

  1. Congratulations! You are signed in.

If you don’t have your authenticator app with you: the long recovery code

  1. If you don’t have your device (e.g. smartphone, tablet, etc) with you, hit “Try another method”, then hit “Recovery code”

  1. Find the long recovery code you were provided during your initial enrollment. If you use this method, it will provide you with a new recovery code. Please again store this code somewhere safe and accessible in case next time you need it to log in without your device and authenticator app.
  • Note that once you’ve used the recovery code, the platform will give you a new one, and the old one will be invalid. So please make sure to log every recovery code each time.

  1. Congratulations! You are signed in.
